Check out the library for all sorts of wonderful and FREE things to do! Don't buy books, check them out! If you want to go to the children's museum, omsi, etc... get a free pass at the library! If you type "children's museum" into the catalog search…

I think the swap is a great idea, just let me know how you would like me to help out and I would be more than happy to.

Yay for Growing Seeds! We are so happy there, I can't even tell you! I was recently laid off and for now we are making it work so we can keep Hadley there 3 days a week. I spent a year on the waiting list, and I would HATE to give up my spot if I don't find employment. The facilities are great, the curriculum is amazing and I've had a wonderful experience with the teachers and staff.

Stefanie, I love your idea about the clothing swap! I saw your post about it in the discussion forum but you may have removed it because it's not there anymore. Let me know if you would like to talk about it further....

As I said, I didn't have any experience with the older rooms so I can't attest to that. We actually had Hadley there while we were waiting for the spot in Growing Seeds to open up. I love, love, LOVE Growing Seeds. Every day I drop Hadley off, I feel it is the right place for us.

Good luck in your search and let me know how it turns out!

Hi Stefanie,
I have to say, the only experience I have with Children's Garden is when Hadley was there from ages 3.5 months-7 months. In the infant room, there were no windows, no outside time, there were always new babies being introduced and older babies moving on all the time. I don't think these things are necessarily all bad, but they weren't for me. For instance, at the daycare Hadley is currently at, the whole class starts together and moves up together every September. I really like that for the stability and the routine of it.

It's not that I thought Children's Garden was a bad place, but I just thought they lacked any sort of structure in the infant room. I would be there a couple of times a day to nurse Hadley and more often than not she was strapped into an infant bouncer. I realize that it's a whole different story for the older ones, and that I don't have experience with.

I'm sorry if I wasn't too helpful, but I think in the end, you will know if it is somewhere you think is right for your child. You know?

The time continues to fly by. Kyle is almost 10 months old and has started to walk a little. I saw your post before Christmas but didn't get a chance to reply. My family didn't have a lot of traditions. We opened a few presents from mom & dad on Christmas eve and then from Santa on Christmas Day. Stockings were opened before breakfast. This is good because Phil's family always got a navel orange in stockings they ate like grapefruit. Breakfast was a tradition cheesy scrambled eggs and baked good (I am now making sticky buns). I am going to get some non-toxic paint to make thank you cards from Kyle (start him early with the thank yous). We also cut down our own tree and I make Christmas candy. Last thing is getting a new special ornament each year (can be bought any time of they year).
Merry Christmas and I hope you enjoyed the snow.

Hi Stefanie, I'm Heather's husband, Hadley's father and c0-creator of this site. Heather mentioned your comment on her wall and I wanted to get back to you with an answer regarding the forum placement.

If you are the site admin, which you should be if you created the site, go to Manage > Features. Once on this screen, you can see the layout of your site. You can drag and drop the different elements on the page. Just click on Forum and drop it to the top (of the middle box).

When you go back to the homepage of the site, you should see the Forum listed at the top. Let me know if that didn't do it for you, or if you have other questions.

I'll have to ask my husband since he set it up. I think there were some options on how to set up the main page though. I seem to remember him asking me what I would like on the top of the page and I told him the forum, of course! :)

I'll ask him and get back to you...

Stefanie,
I'm glad to see all is going well. Yes Kyle has continued to excel at growing... He's getting pretty good at sitting up and is trying very hard each day to crawl.
I look forward to catching up in the near future. Time seems to be flying by these days.
It looks like you and Elliot were having a good visit at the beach.
