Kids Are Like Wine, They Get Even Better With Age

If you haven't read Skippyjon Jones, I highly recommend you do. Our friends, Brian & Kara, gave us Skippyjon Jones and the Big Bones when Hadley was born. There are many more books than just this one. The author is Judy Schachner, and the stories are about a hyper-active Siamese cat that has a wild imagination and more energy than 4 year old hopped up on Red Bull. Though the book is a little difficult for Hadley to understand at this point, it is still so fun to read it to her. Judy Schachner, is really funny and has a great ability to make her books enjoyable for parents, as well as kids.

Seriously, check these out, they're hilarious. Are there any books that you really enjoy and can recommend?

Books for right now, I recommend:
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom... great rhythm and ABCs, you can't go wrong.
Most books by Sandra Boynton ... our favorite is The Belly Button Book
A You're Adorable is a great book to sing and sign
Baby Beluga is a favorite.

Books for later:
Yes Skippyjon Jones is a great little series. The first is the funnies I believe, though I just read Skippyjon Jones in Mummy Trouble to my kindergarten class and we all thought it was pretty hysterical!

Most books by Mo Willems are great! Knuffle Bunny is very funny.
I love Cynthia Rylant books too!

Check out Planet Esme. This sight is run by the author of How to Get Your Kids to Love Reading .. a book I refer to often in my teaching. http://www.planetesme.com/

Let me know if anyone wants further lists. Children's books are my hobby so I have titles for many purposes :)

Thanks for the lists so far. I am going to add these to my list at the library.

A few books we have that Kyle has really enjoyed are:
Dr Seuss "The Foot Book". We have the large board book version of this one. Until another mom mentioned it I didn't know there were 2 versions. Since Kyle is only 1 he really likes the simpler version. He can't say the words but he starts babbling in what seems to be the same rhyme sounds as we read the book to him.

Grandma got him Pat the Bunny which he really likes. You have to be careful with this one as it is a bit more fragile then others, but it has survives his chewing phase.

The happy baby series.
