Kids Are Like Wine, They Get Even Better With Age

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a babysitter(s) in the Portland area? Casey and I are ready (very ready!) to start having some regular Date Nights and we'd like to have a couple of people who we could call to watch our little Anna baby. We are fairly new to the area and don't have a lot of family nearby, so we've limited Date Nights to when we've had out-of-town guests who could watch the baby for us.

Thanks!

I'm not sure of any babysitters but there is a movie theater in the Montavilla neighborhood that provides daycare during the movie. John and I were going to try and go some night so we could have a date night ourselves.

We're like you, no family in town. We've only had a babysitter twice (in over seven months now!), once with our next door neighbor and once with an across the street neighbor. Do you have any trustworthy neighbors you could ask?

You know, our neighbors actually did offer to watch Anna whenever we needed it but I sort of assumed they were just being polite and making small talk (which doesn't make sense now that I think about it!) . However, now that you mentioned the neighbor angle, I think that I should look into it. Thanks!

Did your babysitters put Hadley to bed, or did you go out after she was asleep?

When the neighbor lady watched her we brought her over to their house and she fell asleep there after a lot of playing. They have 2 little boys that just fawn over Hadley every time the see her.

We also had the 15 year old neighbor watch her and that time Hadley was already asleep when she got here. Her parents were home the whole time and were just across the street so if she needed anything immediately they could help her out. We figured if she is 15 now, it's nice to get a little experience under her belt and hopefully we have 3 more years to use her. :)

Ok I have the name of a gal who one of my friends uses who is willing to babysit! She is studying to become a nurse. I will get her number for you. (I met her this evening, in fact, and she seems nice...)

I'm resurrecting an old post because I'm wanting to start a list of babysitters for the Portland area (and am happy to separate the list out by region/city if others provide input on sitters in their areas too, as we are a national site). Heather and I have not gone out a whole lot because we don't know of many sitters and don't want to abuse the neighbors. So, I'm hoping that you all will respond with some sitters that are looking for some extra work. It's a down economy, right? :) Obviously get permission from the sitter first before you shell out their name, but I can create a page (you must be a member to see) that lists out babysitters so, when you and your husband/wife want a romantic night out (or hell, maybe just an escape for a few hours), you'll have a network of people you can call.

I was thinking the following information would be great to have for each sitter:
- contact info (name, phone, email)
- hourly rate
- days/times available
